A serious incident of physical and verbal assault was reported at the Emergency Ward of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri) on Tuesday evening.
As per reports, a group of attendants of a patient allegedly misbehaved with and assaulted the doctors on duty. The attendants used abusive language in front of staff and patients and attempted to physically attack the doctors, causing chaos inside the hospital and disturbing the delivery of patient care.
The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the Medical Superintendent of GMC Rajouri, who has formally forwarded a complaint to the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Rajouri, urging for the registration of an FIR and strict legal action against the culprits.
The Medical Superintendent has termed the incident as “Most Urgent”, stressing that such acts not only endanger doctors but also disrupt the overall hospital environment and critical healthcare services.
Police action on the complaint is awaited.
