A cloudburst late Sunday night severely impacted the under-construction Kwar Hydroelectric Project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, while a concurrent landslide in the Doda district obstructed the crucial Jammu-Kishtwar Road.
The cloudburst released torrents of mud, rocks, and debris that inundated the Kwar Hydroelectric Project site, burying several vehicles and hindering construction activities. Officials are currently assessing the damage and are vigilant of the situation. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported as per the latest updates.
A simultaneous and relentless downpour led to a significant landslide in the Prem Nagar area of Doda district. The landslide spilled debris onto the Jammu-Kishtwar Road, effectively rendering this vital route impassable for vehicles.
In response to the crisis, authorities have mobilized teams to the affected locations to initiate restoration work. They are prioritizing the removal of debris and the reopening of the road to restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
Officials confirmed that the administration is closely monitoring weather conditions, with restoration operations in full swing across both Kishtwar and Doda districts. Safety remains paramount as responders continue to assess risks associated with the ongoing rainfall.
As the situation develops, further updates will be provided.
