In a proactive move to combat the misuse of vehicles in unlawful activities, the Awantipora Police have initiated a detailed inquiry into vehicle transactions across their jurisdiction. This investigation commenced earlier this week as officers from the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and Station House Officer (SHO) ranks visited car dealerships to examine records related to vehicle sales and purchases.

The inquiry primarily targets instances where an individual has purchased multiple vehicles, a pattern often indicative of potential illegal activity. Police officials reported that during these inspections, they verified that car dealerships adhered to proper documentation procedures, ensuring that records matched legal standards.

Dealers received clear instructions to maintain comprehensive records for every transaction. These records must include crucial information, such as Aadhaar details, phone numbers, and the contact information for both buyers and sellers. This initiative aims to foster greater transparency and accountability in vehicle dealings, with an emphasis on preventing misuse.

The police’s focus on vehicle transaction scrutiny forms part of a broader strategy designed to enhance surveillance systems and curb the use of vehicles in activities deemed anti-social or illegal. By examining the ownership patterns closely, the police intend to reduce unlawful behaviors using vehicles.

SSP of Awantipora shared thoughts on this initiative, stressing the necessity of preventive policing. He stated, “Strict monitoring of vehicle transactions is crucial to forestalling any potential misuse by anti-social or anti-national elements.” The SSP appealed for public cooperation, highlighting that vigilance from both the community and dealers is vital to preserving peace and lawfulness in the region.

In light of these measures, the Awantipora Police reinforced their commitment to ensuring public safety through ongoing proactive and preventive strategies. The inquiry reflects an essential move to tackle concerns surrounding vehicle misuse, aiming to forge a safer environment for all residents.
