Jammu, Sep 12: After remaining suspended for 19 days due to a massive landslide that claimed 34 lives, the pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi will resume from September 14.

Shrine Board officials said, “Following a temporary suspension necessitated by inclement weather conditions and essential maintenance of the track leading to the holy shrine, the yatra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shall resume from September 14, subject to favourable weather conditions.”

Authorities have advised pilgrims to carry valid identification, use designated pathways, and cooperate with the on-ground staff. RFID-based tracking will remain mandatory for transparency and safety. Devotees can access live updates, booking facilities, and helpline support through the Shrine Board’s official website.

Expressing gratitude for the patience shown by devotees, the Shrine Board stated, “The resumption of yatra after a 19-day halt is a symbol of faith. The Board remains committed to ensuring the sanctity and safety of this revered pilgrimage.”

At least 34 people lost their lives and several others were injured in the August 26 landslide that struck Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkuwari.

Meanwhile, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has set up a high-level three-member committee to probe the causes of the tragedy. The committee comprises Additional Chief Secretary of Jal Shakti Department Shaleen Kabra, Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, and Inspector General of Police, Jammu, B.S. Tuti. The panel will submit a detailed report to the Lieutenant Governor.
