Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Appeals for Cleanliness and Hospitality Ahead of Maha Kumbh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated his appeal to the residents of Prayagraj to uphold exemplary standards of cleanliness and hospitality as the city gears up to host the grand Maha Kumbh.

Extending his New Year wishes after a review meeting, the Chief Minister said, “With the cooperation of all, Prayagraj will host the Maha Kumbh with unparalleled grandeur, showcasing the efforts of the double-engine government and the pride of its people. I urge everyone to surpass the remarkable cleanliness and hospitality displayed during the 2019 Kumbh. This time, Prayagraj will again shine as a model city.”

Massive Preparations Underway

The Chief Minister highlighted significant progress in Prayagraj’s development, stating:

  • Infrastructure Upgrades: Over 200 roads have been upgraded, including single-lane roads converted to double lanes and double lanes to four and six lanes. Out of 14 planned flyovers and railway overbridges (ROBs), 13 are completed, with the last nearing completion.
  • Parking and Transportation: The Mela Authority has developed parking areas spanning 5,000 acres, equipped with checkpoints, robust security, and public address systems.
  • Pontoon Bridges: The number of pontoon bridges has increased from 22 in 2019 to 30, with 28 already completed and the remaining two set to finish within days.
  • Ghats and Water Supply: A kilometre-long temporary ghat and a permanent ghat near Arail are nearing completion. Additionally, 450 kilometers of pipelines have been laid to ensure clean drinking water.

Grand Scale and Global Anticipation

Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized that the Maha Kumbh, a once-in-144-years spiritual event, is attracting global attention. “This monumental gathering will see participation from over 7,000 organizations and 1.5 lakh tents arranged for devotees,” he said.

The event will commence with the Paush Purnima bath on January 13, followed by:

  • Makar Sankranti (Amrit Snan): January 14
  • Mauni Amavasya: January 29 (largest gathering of 6-8 crore devotees)
  • Basant Panchami: February 3
  • Two additional baths: February 12 and February 26

Inclusive Celebrations

The Chief Minister assured that there would be no protocol restrictions during the main baths, creating an inclusive environment for all devotees. Floral showers will be arranged to honor saints and welcome pilgrims.

Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to nature and the holy rivers, Ganga and Yamuna, for their blessings, ensuring a successful and safe Maha Kumbh. He concluded by stating, “The double-engine government is dedicated to making this sacred event a historic success, reflecting the spiritual and cultural richness of Prayagraj and India.”

With preparations nearing completion, Prayagraj is set to welcome millions from across the globe, uniting in faith, spirituality, and the spirit of cleanliness and hospitality.
