BENGALURU: A case has been filed against Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy following allegations that he threatened a senior police officer investigating a mining case involving him.
The complaint was lodged on Monday by Inspector General of Police M Chandra Sekhar, who claims that Kumaraswamy intimidated a government official to hinder his duties.
Sekhar, who leads the Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the mining allegations, stated that the inquiry concerns accusations that Kumaraswamy unlawfully approved a 550-acre mining lease to Sri Sai Venkateswara Minerals (SSVM) in Bellary district during his tenure as Chief Minister of Karnataka from 2006 to 2008.
In his complaint filed at the Sanjay Nagar police station, Sekhar mentioned that the SIT had gathered substantial evidence against Kumaraswamy and had sought permission from the Governor of Karnataka for prosecution on November 21, 2023.
