Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour on Monday. This facility marks a significant advancement in sports infrastructure for the border regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister highlighted the government’s commitment to providing modern sports facilities that are accessible and inclusive for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized a special focus on rural and border areas to nurture a robust sports culture, discipline, and healthy lifestyles among young people.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent,” said Sharma. He assured that the government aims to ensure that no talented youth faces deprivation due to a lack of facilities.
The newly inaugurated indoor hall features world-class facilities, accommodating a variety of sports disciplines under one roof. It includes three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, and two wrestling and kabaddi courts, providing a comprehensive training environment for aspiring athletes.
During the inauguration, Satish Sharma engaged with local youth and sportspersons, encouraging them to make the best use of the facility. He reiterated that the government would continue to prioritize sports infrastructure development and youth engagement throughout the region.
The launch of this indoor sports hall is poised to enhance athletic opportunities, enabling young athletes in Khour and its surrounding areas to access modern facilities conveniently. This initiative represents a vital step toward fostering talent and promoting sporting excellence in Jammu and Kashmir.
