New Delhi, Nov 8: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, extended congratulations to US President-elect Donald Trump in a letter, expressing optimism for enhanced cooperation between India and the United States under Trump’s leadership.
In his letter dated November 7, Gandhi stated, “I would like to congratulate you on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America. The people have placed their trust in your vision for the future.” He highlighted the “historic friendship” between India and the USA, rooted in shared democratic values, and voiced confidence that the two nations will continue to strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest.
Gandhi further expressed hope for expanded opportunities benefiting both Indians and Americans. “I wish you the very best during your second term as President of the United States,” he added.
Trump, 78, defeated his Democratic rival Kamala Harris in a decisive victory, marking his return to the White House after previously serving as the 45th US President following his win in 2016.
