Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his role in transforming the state, particularly in pulling it out of what he referred to as the ‘Jungle Raaj’ era. Modi’s remarks came during a function in Darbhanga, where he laid the foundation for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and inaugurated several major infrastructure projects worth approximately Rs 12,100 crore.
At the event, which was attended by Nitish Kumar, Modi said, “Nitish ji has set up a model of good governance (Shushashan), pulling the state out of the era of Jungle Raaj. No praise is too high for this achievement.” The Prime Minister acknowledged the progress Bihar has made under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, particularly in improving the state’s governance and infrastructure.
Focus on Health Infrastructure and Development
PM Modi emphasized the significant strides Bihar has made in the health sector under the leadership of the Nitish Kumar-led government. He remarked, “Bihar is witnessing a lot of development. The NDA government is committed to the welfare of the people. The previous government in Bihar never bothered about health infrastructure. They made false promises, but the situation has improved since Nitish Kumar ji came to power.”
Highlighting the state’s progress, the Prime Minister pointed to the improvements in various sectors, especially healthcare. The establishment of AIIMS in Darbhanga, he said, would be a game-changer in providing world-class medical facilities and education to the people of Bihar.
Flood Mitigation and Infrastructure Projects
On the recurring issue of floods in Bihar, which has long been a challenge for the state, Modi assured the people that the central government is addressing the problem through a dedicated Rs 11,000 crore flood mitigation project. This initiative, he said, aims to provide lasting solutions to the flooding issues that have affected Bihar’s people for decades.
Modi’s visit to Darbhanga comes at a time when Bihar is undergoing significant infrastructural development, with the Prime Minister inaugurating projects aimed at boosting the state’s economy, improving public services, and enhancing quality of life for its residents.
With these major projects and reforms in health, infrastructure, and flood management, PM Modi reiterated the commitment of the NDA government to Bihar’s sustained progress and welfare.
