Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended his congratulations to “my friend” Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election, pledging to strengthen the India-U.S. partnership.
“Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic election victory. As you continue building on your past successes, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further enhance the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership,” Modi posted on X. He added, “Together, let’s work for the well-being of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.” Modi also shared photos from past meetings with Trump, recalling their strong camaraderie.
Modi and Trump’s friendship has been publicly displayed at high-profile events like “Howdy, Modi!” in Houston (2019) and “Namaste Trump” in Ahmedabad (2020). The two leaders have aligned on defense, security, and counterterrorism efforts, especially against Pakistan-based threats, and have jointly addressed China’s growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region through initiatives like the Quad alliance with the U.S., Japan, and Australia.
