Mumbai/Raipur, Nov 7 – Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly received a death threat along with a demand for Rs 50 lakh, according to Mumbai police. An extortion case has been filed following the threat, which comes in the wake of recent threats against actor Salman Khan, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
“A call was received at the Bandra police station, demanding Rs 50 lakh from Shah Rukh Khan and threatening his life. An offence has been registered, though no arrests have been made yet,” a senior police official stated.
The case has been lodged under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the unknown caller.
Police teams have been mobilized for further investigation. Although the Mumbai police have not confirmed the origin of the call, Raipur police revealed that Mumbai police are summoning an individual, Faiyaz Khan, from Raipur in connection with the threat.
