A man has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and police officials, creating tensions in the area.

The accused, identified as Anil, allegedly called the emergency helpline 112 on Tuesday night and declared his intent to shoot the Chief Minister on January 26. He also issued threats against the station in-charge of Izzatnagar Police Station and other officers, authorities said.

Prompt Arrest Following Threats
“After receiving the threat, we launched a search operation, but the accused’s phone was switched off. Through extensive efforts, Anil was located and arrested on Wednesday,” said Dhananjay Pandey, SHO of Izzatnagar Police Station.

An FIR has been registered against the accused, who is currently being interrogated. He is expected to be produced before a court on Thursday, the police confirmed.

Tensions and Preventive Measures
The threats caused unrest in the area, raising fears of communal tensions. “Prompt action was taken to prevent escalation and maintain peace,” said the SHO. “We are also investigating the intent and mental state of the accused.”

Initial Complaint Leads to Threats
According to police, Anil had initially filed a complaint with a PRV (Police Response Vehicle) team on Tuesday evening, alleging that his friend had borrowed his motorcycle and failed to return it. However, when questioned, Anil reportedly began hurling abusive language and later called 112 to issue the death threat.

The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the underlying motives and ensure public safety.
