Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the 3rd edition of the Tawi Festival, organized by the Hari Tara Charitable Trust (HTCT), at the historic Amar Mahal Palace, Jammu. The event also marked the commencement of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, commemorating 50 years of the Amar Mahal Museum and Library.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated Dr. Karan Singh and the entire team associated with HTCT for organizing the prestigious festival. He praised the event for bringing together experts and practitioners from diverse fields to share new ideas and insights in art, literature, and history.

The Lieutenant Governor underscored the invaluable role of artists and litterateurs in shaping society and enriching global knowledge platforms. “Art is a vital element in fostering an enlightened society and nurturing citizens with creativity and values. Just as science and technology have revolutionized human civilization, a rich and vibrant tradition of art and culture is essential for a balanced and harmonious world,” he stated.

Emphasizing the need for a fine balance between technology and the arts, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that scientific advancements are indispensable for progress, but the presence of artists and spiritualists is equally significant for preserving cultural identity and moral values.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the vision of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi,” the Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of promoting education rooted in local culture, traditional knowledge, and ethical values. He also outlined the government’s efforts to preserve and showcase Jammu & Kashmir’s artistic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.

Former Union Minister and Chairman of the Hari Tara Charitable Trust, Dr. Karan Singh, lauded the Tawi Festival as a vital initiative in preserving and promoting the rich cultural legacy of Jammu & Kashmir. He emphasized the role of such events in fostering unity, communal harmony, and pride among the people, ensuring that the region’s diverse traditions and art forms are celebrated and passed on to future generations.
