Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will chair a significant Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting at Raj Bhavan today, focusing on pressing security issues in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The meeting is set to begin at 11 am, bringing together leading security officials for an in-depth discussion.
The UHQ serves as the nerve center for security and intelligence operations in J&K. Today’s agenda includes a review of the current security landscape, winter preparedness, and the recent escalation along the Line of Control (LoC) instigated by Pakistan.
During the meeting, LG Sinha will receive briefings from top security officials, informing him about the situation along the LoC and the international borders within the Union Territory. This intelligence is vital for developing strategic responses to enhance public safety.
Attendees include Army’s Northern Commander, Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, and heads of various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies. Their insights will play a crucial role in shaping the strategies discussed.
The last UHQ meeting, chaired by LG Sinha in May this year, came on the heels of the successful ‘Operation Sindoor,’ a major anti-terror operation. Following this operation, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for “precise, intelligence-led operations” to effectively neutralize terrorist threats and dismantle their support networks.
Given the ongoing challenges in the region, this meeting is timely. Local residents and political leaders keenly observe the decisions made in these discussions, as they directly impact the security and stability of J&K.
As fishing for insights ensures transparency, the active involvement of various levels of security forces highlights the government’s commitment to resolving issues proactively. The outcomes of the UHQ meeting are expected to outline steps for improving the security infrastructure and fostering peace during the challenging winter months.
