Kupwara, September 22: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse (IAS), today flagged off a group of beneficiaries from the DC Office Complex in Kupwara for an exposure-cum-training visit to the Government Sheep Breeding Farm in Poshnar, Rajwar Kupwara. This event, organized by the Department of Sheep Husbandry under the SEWA PARV initiative, aims to promote modern sheep rearing practices among local farmers.
During his interaction with the beneficiaries, DC Shrikant Suse commended the department’s efforts in empowering local sheep breeders. He assured them of full support in adopting advanced methods of sheep farming. He emphasized that livestock management has immense potential for generating livelihoods and enhancing income, especially in rural areas.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Ishrat, stated that this exposure program aims at providing beneficiaries with hands-on training and practical demonstrations in scientific sheep rearing, flock management, breeding practices, and animal health care. He mentioned that such initiatives are crucial for helping farmers implement improved management practices, increasing productivity and ensuring better animal welfare.
The visit will also feature interactive sessions conducted by technical experts from the department. These sessions will provide beneficiaries with firsthand knowledge of modern techniques aimed at increasing profitability and ensuring sustainable growth in sheep husbandry. Additionally, the exposure visit will showcase innovative practices that can be replicated at the grassroots level, enhancing outcomes for local farmers.
This initiative is part of the Department’s continued commitment to uplift the socio-economic status of sheep rearers in Kupwara and promote self-reliance through livestock-based entrepreneurship. By strengthening these efforts, the department aims to empower the rural economy in the district.
