Indian golfers Diksha Dagar, Avani Prashanth, and Hitaashee Bakshi opened their campaigns at the Jabra Ladies Open with identical rounds of one-over 72, placing them tied 36th at the end of the first round at the Evian Resort Golf Club.

Among the Indian contingent, Tvesa Malik had a rough start, carding a four-over 75, leaving her tied 84th on the leaderboard.

The standout performance of the day came from Sweden’s Moa Folke, who surged to the top with a stunning round of eight birdies and just one bogey, finishing at seven-under-par 64. Folke, who teed off from the 6th hole—as players started from the 6th and 15th—birdied key holes including the 6th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 13th, 15th, and 18th, with her sole blemish coming on the 16th.

Mixed Outing for Indians

After a Top-10 finish last week, Diksha Dagar looked strong early in her round, starting with back-to-back birdies on the 6th and 7th holes and adding another on the 9th. However, two mid-round bogeys on the 13th and 16th set her back. A birdie on the 1st helped her recover, but a string of three consecutive bogeys from the 3rd to the 5th dragged her back to 1-over-par.

Avani Prashanth, beginning her round on the 15th, recorded three birdies against four bogeys in a steady outing, while Hitaashee Bakshi, who impressed with a T-12 finish at last week’s Dutch Ladies Open, carded two birdies, one bogey, and a double bogey for her 72.

Leaderboard Highlights

Folke’s 64 gave her a two-shot lead over a group of five players tied for second at five-under-par 66:

  • Sanna Nuutinen (Finland)
  • April Angurasaranee (Thailand)
  • Kelsey Bennett (Australia)
  • Sara Kouskova (Czech Republic)
  • Amaia Latorre (Spain)

Close behind, at four-under-par, are Alexandra Swayne (USA), Annabel Fuller (England), Chiara Tamburlini (Switzerland), and Anna Zanusso (Italy), all tied for seventh place.

The tournament, held on the picturesque yet challenging course at Evian, continues with round two on Thursday, with Indian golfers hoping to build momentum and climb the leaderboard.
