In a dramatic midnight operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out multiple precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), declaring “Justice is Served” in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces targeted nine locations known for sheltering terrorist groups involved in cross-border attacks. According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the operation was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” emphasizing that no Pakistani military facilities were hit.

“This is in response to the barbaric Pahalgam attack where 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered,” the PIB statement read. “India has shown restraint in selecting targets and methods, ensuring accountability without escalation.”

The strikes reportedly hit terrorist strongholds in Bhawalpur (Pakistan’s Punjab province), home to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters, as well as Kotli and Muzaffarabad in PoJK, where several terror training camps and launch pads operate. Sources confirmed that loud explosions were heard in Muzaffarabad, followed by a citywide blackout.

Minutes before the strikes, the Indian Army posted a striking message on X (formerly Twitter): “Ready to Strike, Trained to Win.” Following the operation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared a victorious note: “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

In the aftermath, tension escalated along the Line of Control (LoC), with reports of intense shelling in Krishna Ghati, Bhimber Gali, Lam, Mendhar, and Kupwara sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army spokesperson confirmed: “Pakistan again violated the ceasefire agreement by firing artillery in Bhimber Gali, Poonch-Rajouri area. The Indian Army is responding appropriately.”

The Pakistan Army acknowledged the Indian strikes, noting that Pakistan Air Force planes were airborne and that the Indian action was carried out entirely from Indian airspace. “Pakistan will respond at a time and place of its own choosing,” a spokesperson said.

Authorities have declared a high alert along the LoC and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, bracing for any potential retaliatory actions.

A detailed press briefing on Operation Sindoor is expected later today.
