Massive celebrations erupted across the Jammu region on Sunday evening after India clinched a thrilling five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final held in Dubai. This victory marked India’s third consecutive Asia Cup triumph against Pakistan, further cementing its dominance in regional cricket.
The contest began dramatically as India faced early setbacks. Pacers Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi dismissed key batsmen Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav, leaving the Men in Blue in potential trouble during their chase.
However, a resilient partnership between Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube turned the tide. Their composed batting steadied India’s innings and laid the foundation for a memorable chase. Varma’s crafty strokeplay complemented Dube’s aggressive hitting, pushing India to a hard-fought victory.
As soon as the winning shot was struck, Jammu erupted in joy. Streets across Jammu city and surrounding towns came alive. Fans waved the Tricolour, shouted slogans of “India-India”, lit firecrackers, and danced to the traditional dhol beats. Markets, residential colonies, and chowks transformed into vibrant hubs of cricket passion.
“In the beginning, we were nervous after losing three early wickets, but Tilak Varma’s innings was simply brilliant, and Dube supported him well. We are proud of our team,” said a cricket fan in Jammu.
Another supporter exclaimed, “It feels like Diwali has come early! India is the strongest team in the world right now, and no one can beat us when we play like this.”
Earlier in the match, India’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance that restricted Pakistan to a modest total. Their controlled attack ensured that the target remained achievable, despite the challenging start to India’s innings.
This emphatic victory not only awarded India another Asia Cup trophy but also reinforced its status as a powerhouse in world cricket, sparking nationwide pride and jubilation that resonated with cricket fans across the country.
