New Delhi, Dec 10 – Delhi’s air quality deteriorated on Tuesday, slipping into the ‘poor’ category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 223. According to data from the Sameer app, which provides hourly air quality updates, 27 out of the 38 monitoring stations across the city recorded ‘poor’ air quality levels.

In addition, Jahangirpuri was the only station to report air quality in the ‘very poor’ category, while the remaining stations showed ‘moderate’ levels of pollution.

This shift in air quality comes just a day after the city’s air quality had improved to the ‘moderate’ category on Monday.

CPCB Air Quality Classification

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies the AQI on a scale from 0 to 500. According to this system:

  • 0-50: Good
  • 51-100: Satisfactory
  • 101-200: Moderate
  • 201-300: Poor
  • 301-400: Very Poor
  • Above 400: Severe

With the AQI recorded at 223, Delhi’s air quality today falls under the ‘poor’ category, which can cause discomfort for sensitive groups such as children, elderly individuals, and those with respiratory conditions.

Weather Update:

Meanwhile, the city’s night temperature was recorded at 8°C, which is two degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has forecasted clear skies for the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 23°C.
