A Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist, Parminder Singh, commonly known as Pindi, was extradited from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday. This significant development follows his alleged involvement in serious crimes across Punjab.
Pindi, a close associate of notorious foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh, known as Rinda, and Happy Passia, faced multiple allegations including petrol bomb attacks and extortion in Batala, Gurdaspur. Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, confirmed the extradition and emphasized the collaborative efforts between state authorities and central agencies.
The Punjab police initiated the extradition process after acting on a red corner notice (RCN) requested by the Batala police. The urgent action led to the deployment of a specialized four-member police team headed by a senior officer, who travelled to the UAE on September 24.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Yadav reported that the team coordinated closely with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and relevant UAE authorities. This high-stakes operation aimed to ensure that Pindi faces justice for his alleged crimes in India.
Sunny Singh, a security analyst based in Chandigarh, noted the operation’s importance in curbing terrorism in the region. He stated, “Extraditions like this are crucial for maintaining law and order, particularly in Punjab, which has a troubled past with terrorism.”
Upon completion of all necessary legal formalities in the UAE, the Punjab police successfully brought Pindi back. The extradition highlights India’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure that individuals involved in such crimes are held accountable.
This extradition marks a pivotal moment in efforts to dismantle networks associated with organizations like Babbar Khalsa International. Such coordinated actions between nations demonstrate a commitment to prosecuting terrorist activities that threaten civil security.
The Punjab police intend to interrogate Pindi thoroughly to gather more information regarding his associates and the broader network of terror that has plagued the region.
The Indian government has reiterated its dedication to fighting terrorism and has engaged in various international collaborations to strengthen its efforts. Extraditing wanted criminals from abroad reflects the persistent commitment to bring to justice individuals who undermine national security.
