NEW DELHI, Nov 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the implementation of the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) scheme for veterans as a meaningful reaffirmation of the nation’s gratitude toward its armed forces. In a series of posts on X, Modi reflected on the initiative, noting that it fulfilled a key BJP promise made before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The government issued the official order for OROP on November 7, 2015, retroactively making benefits effective from July 1, 2014. “It brings great satisfaction to see that over the years, countless veterans and their families have benefitted from this landmark initiative,” he said, adding that beyond the statistics, OROP demonstrates the government’s dedication to the welfare of those who serve the nation.

Modi further emphasized that his government remains committed to bolstering the armed forces and supporting those who have sacrificed in service of the country. “The implementation of OROP is a tribute to the courage and sacrifices of our veterans, addressing their longstanding demand and expressing the nation’s appreciation for our heroes,” he stated.
