The District Administration of Anantnag accelerated its campaign against drug peddling by demolishing 15 illegal structures in Bijbehara on Saturday. This action took place under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign, reinforcing authorities’ resolve to dismantle narcotics networks and eradicate unlawful assets linked to drug trafficking.

Officials confirmed that in a coordinated operation with revenue authorities and the police department, they demolished illegal constructions, including the shops built on State and Kahcharai land in Estate Waghama. These illegal structures, located on Khasra Nos. 2494 (min) and 2495 (min), faced the axe due to their direct link to individuals involved in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act violations.

The operation did not just halt unlawful constructions; it also resulted in reclaiming encroached State and Kahcharai land. Officials hailed this as a significant victory in the fight against illegal occupation of public property.

The District Administration reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against drug peddlers and emphasized that rigorous actions will continue throughout the campaign period. Authorities highlighted that dismantling illegal properties associated with the drug trade is pivotal in disrupting the supply chain of narcotics within the district.

The campaign aligns with government initiatives aimed at promoting a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. The administration has assured residents that any individuals engaged in drug-related activities or illegal constructions would face strict legal repercussions in the near future.

This drive reflects a growing concern over drug abuse issues in the region. According to the Minister of Home Affairs, a staggering number of drug-related cases have emerged over the past few years, prompting the need for a robust response.

As part of this initiative, authorities also launched awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of reporting illegal activities. Community involvement plays a crucial role in creating a sustainable and effective response to this pressing issue.

This significant operation in Bijbehara serves as both a warning and a clarion call for greater cooperation between the public and the authorities in combating the drug menace. The Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign continues to make strides in promoting a healthier future for all residents in the region.
