Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday urged Members of Parliament to keep their questions concise and asked ministers to give brief replies during the Question Hour to ensure that a greater number of issues could be taken up in the House.

The Speaker made the remarks after Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje concluded her response to a supplementary question.

Emphasising the need for discipline and efficiency in parliamentary proceedings, Birla said that short questions and precise answers would help maximise the effective use of Question Hour. He also cautioned members that he would intervene if anyone violated the established norms of the House.

The Speaker’s remarks were aimed at maintaining order and enhancing the overall productivity of parliamentary debates.
