AICC Launches Nationwide Signature Campaign Against Vote Chori

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary G.A. Mir announced today that the party has launched a nationwide signature campaign against alleged “Vote Chori” and electoral irregularities. The AICC aims to collect 5 crore signatures across India to petition the President of India on these critical issues.

During his address to reporters at Omoh, Verinag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Mir emphasized that the campaign seeks to enhance public awareness about voting rights. He stated that the drive, which runs from September 15 to October 15, aims to curb what he described as the disgraceful theft of votes orchestrated through collusion between the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Mir’s remarks draw attention to the alarming claims that nearly 65 lakh votes have been deleted in Bihar, an act he termed as a severe assault on democracy. He said, “This is a murder of democracy, and we must act to protect it.”

“We are aiming for 5 crore signatures to present the petition to the President. Our campaign has made people aware of the importance of their vote and sensitized them to the protection of electoral rights — a first since Independence,” said Mir.

In light of the recent discourse surrounding purported electoral malpractices, Mir alleged that in various regions across the country, there are incidents of votes being improperly deleted or added, and voters facing hindrances in accessing polling booths on election day.

He stated, “Vote Chori is a crime, a blot on democracy, and a direct assault on the electoral rights of people.” This statement underlines the AICC’s firm stance on safeguarding electoral integrity.

Mir cited that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has been instrumental in exposing these manipulative practices, which include the deletion of legitimate voter registrations and the registration of fake voters, as seen recently in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Bihar.

The Congress Party, under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, continues to prosecute efforts against what they refer to as the ‘ECI-BJP nexus’ to ensure that every vote cast reflects the will of the people.

“Powerful start to the Signature Campaign against ‘Vote Chori’ today in Doru Constituency, Anantnag! Hundreds of committed workers joined from my own polling booth to safeguard our democracy. Every signature counts! We won’t let our voices be stolen,” Mir expressed on social media.

Moreover, MLA Nizam Ud Din Bhat, who also addressed the gathering, termed the campaign an “indigenous people’s movement” initiated by Rahul Gandhi aimed at protecting democracy and securing voter rights.

The nationwide signature campaign seeks to ignite public dialogue on electoral rights and ensure that electoral fraud does not continue unchecked. With each signature collected, the Congress Party aims to reaffirm its commitment towards fostering a more transparent and accountable electoral process in India.
