In a significant achievement for Jammu’s cricketing landscape, 19-year-old Aarav Mahajan earned a call-up to the 18-member Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming domestic cricket season. His selection reflects remarkable consistency and outstanding performances across various age-group tournaments.
Aarav has showcased his batting prowess in events such as the Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19), Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23). He accumulated nearly 700 runs at the U-19 level, including an impressive tally of three centuries and three fifties. Moreover, during the U-23 tournament, he contributed significantly with a composed 87-run innings, further establishing his reputation as a top-order batter.
His successful stint in cricket is underpinned by extensive training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he attended three training camps. The most recent of these took place at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. His hard work paid off when he ranked 17th among the top U-19 run-getters in India last season.
Despite narrowly missing out on a national call-up, Aarav’s continued performances advocate for his promotion to senior-level competition. Observers and cricket experts regard his inclusion in the Uttarakhand Ranji squad as a major step toward higher honours, potentially positioning him for greater success in Indian cricket.
The selection of the Uttarakhand Ranji squad has sparked excitement among cricket fans, who see Aarav as a promising talent to watch. The squad for the upcoming season includes notable players such as Kunal Chandela (Captain), Prashant Chopra, and Bhupendra Lalwani, alongside Aarav Mahajan.
