The Delhi Police made a significant breakthrough on Friday by arresting two wanted criminals, identified as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, who allegedly have ties to foreign-based gangsters. The encounter occurred in the Kapashera area, raising concerns over ongoing crime syndicates operating in and around the capital.

Both suspects hail from Rajasthan and are linked to various high-profile criminal activities. Police outlined that Rajput faced multiple charges, including extortion and kidnapping, across multiple states such as Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Authorities placed a ₹20,000 bounty on him due to his criminal catalogue.

“Rajput is notably connected to the July 2022 firing outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal. This attack was orchestrated on the instructions of gangster Daler Kotia,” said a police official. He is also a suspect in a July 2025 abduction case in Gujarat, in which demands reached as high as ₹100 crore ransom from gangster Kirit Singh Jhala.

Police disclosed that the situation escalated when Rajput sustained a bullet injury to his lower body during the encounter; he was subsequently rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment. Investigators emphasized that this incident sheds light on the complex network involving gangsters such as Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan, showcasing the challenging undertaking law enforcement faces.

Meanwhile, Mahipal had drawn attention in the past for his involvement in the Karnal firing case. Following his earlier arrest and subsequent release on bail, he resumed his activities within the same crime syndicate, further complicating the investigation.

This encounter exemplifies the persistent threat posed by organized crime in the Delhi region and raises questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement’s strategies to curb these operations. As police continue to follow leads and gather intelligence, they urge the public to remain vigilant.

In light of these developments, officials call for greater community support and cooperation. The police maintain that targeting gangsters like Rajput and Mahipal remains a top priority. Ongoing investigations may uncover further connections to organized crime networks, reinforcing the need for coordinated efforts in tackling the rising tide of crime linked to such syndicates.
