Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday announced a remarkable improvement in railway safety, with the number of rail accidents dropping from 400 to just 81 in the last financial year.

🔹 A Historic Decline in Accidents
During the Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Vaishnaw credited technological advancements, procedural reforms, and enhanced training methods for this massive reduction in rail mishaps.

💬 “During Lalu Ji’s tenure, there were around 700 accidents per year. Under Mamata Ji, the number reduced to 400, and during Kharge Ji’s time, it stood at 385. But in the financial year 2024-25, we have successfully brought it down to just 81—a phenomenal achievement!”

🔹 Zero FIR System for Passenger Safety
Addressing concerns about delays in filing FIRs for railway-related crimes, the minister assured that the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) are working closely to streamline procedures. He emphasized that the introduction of the Zero FIR system will ensure swift action and better passenger protection.

With cutting-edge reforms and an unwavering commitment to safety, Indian Railways is on track to becoming one of the safest rail networks in the world.
