Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday called upon NCC cadets to work towards realizing the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, urging them to become the country’s valuable assets. Speaking at the NCC Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantt, Singh praised the cadets for their discipline, commitment, and patriotism, which he said play a pivotal role in nation-building.

Vision of a Developed India

Addressing the gathering, Singh highlighted the significance of youth in shaping the future of the nation, quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to transform India into a developed country by 2047. He reminded the cadets that Modi himself was an NCC cadet, emphasizing that fulfilling this vision is a responsibility shared by all NCC cadets.

Viksit Bharat does not mean just the development of land; it means the progress of 140 crore Indians living together in harmony despite our diverse social and cultural backgrounds,” Singh stated. “We must not only focus on our own growth but contribute positively to society, ensuring that India becomes a developed nation.”

Unity Amidst Diversity

Singh commended the cadets for the values of leadership, discipline, ambition, and patriotism instilled in them by the NCC. He drew attention to the unifying spirit of the cadets, despite their diverse backgrounds.

“Whenever I meet NCC cadets, I don’t just see a cadet in them. I see the reflection of India—a country with many bodies but one soul, many branches but one root,” he said. “Your energy and enthusiasm prove that India’s future is bright.”

Singh pointed out that India’s progress has been driven by the collective efforts of its citizens, especially its youth. “What India has achieved today is because of the hard work of every individual, especially the youth,” he added.

India’s Progress and National Unity

The Defence Minister also drew comparisons with other countries that gained independence around the same time as India. He highlighted that nations which upheld values of discipline, integrity, and national unity are thriving today, while those that did not remain mired in chaos.

He praised the NCC for inculcating these essential qualities in young individuals, making them strong contributors to the nation’s progress.

Leadership and Sacrifice: A Call to Action

In his address, Singh reflected on the true meaning of leadership, citing the heroism of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks as a source of inspiration for all. His sacrifice continues to resonate as a beacon of courage and patriotism for the nation.

The Minister urged the cadets to never stop learning and adapting. “Circumstances are constantly changing, and with them, new problems arise that require new skills and approaches. To stay ahead, skill development must remain a priority,” Singh said.

He encouraged the cadets to embrace challenges with a ‘never give up’ attitude, emphasizing that facing obstacles with confidence is key to success.

Guard of Honour & Commendation Ceremony

The event concluded with an impressive Guard of Honour presented by the cadets from all three NCC wings. The Defence Minister also presided over the Investiture Ceremony, where deserving cadets were awarded the Raksha Mantri Padak and Commendation Cards for their exemplary performance and dedication to duty.

Looking Ahead: A Bright Future for the Nation

With Rajnath Singh’s motivational address, the cadets were further inspired to contribute towards the country’s growth, unity, and leadership. As part of the NCC, these young individuals are poised to play a crucial role in realizing India’s aspirations of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
