Dense Fog Engulfs Outer Delhi, Disrupting Traffic and Affecting Visibility

New Delhi: Dense fog blanketed parts of outer Delhi on Friday morning, significantly reducing visibility and causing disruptions in traffic movement. The city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 8.8 degrees Celsius, slightly above the seasonal average by 1.2 degrees.

Air Quality and Weather Forecast

The air quality in the capital remained in the poor category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 294. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the day is expected to remain foggy, with the maximum temperature likely to reach around 19 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has further predicted:

  • Saturday: Very dense fog.
  • Sunday: Dense fog conditions.

Understanding AQI Levels

The AQI is categorized as follows:

  • 0–50: Good
  • 51–100: Satisfactory
  • 101–200: Moderate
  • 201–300: Poor
  • 301–400: Very Poor
  • 401–500: Severe

Residents are advised to exercise caution during travel and minimize outdoor activities, especially in areas with low visibility or high pollution levels.
