Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Vishesh Mahajan, inaugurated a free health check-up camp for drivers and conductors today at Bakshi Nagar Matador Stand. The initiative was organized by the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Jammu in collaboration with the Health Department and the Minibus Union Jammu.

The camp witnessed participation from over 270 drivers and conductors, who availed themselves of various health facilities, including eye check-ups for color blindness and vision defects, as well as tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, hemoglobin levels, and more.

Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Commissioner highlighted the importance of personal health and hygiene for ensuring road safety. “The objective of organizing such medical camps is to raise awareness among drivers about the critical role of their health in safe driving practices,” he stated.

He further added that such initiatives would be conducted regularly to ensure drivers are fit and well-informed about their health. “A healthy driver ensures safer roads for everyone. These camps will not only benefit individuals but also contribute to the broader goal of road safety,” Vishesh Mahajan remarked.

The event received positive feedback from the participants, with many appreciating the efforts of the MVD and its partners in organizing such a thoughtful initiative. The Minibus Union Jammu also pledged its support for future health camps aimed at promoting driver well-being.

This initiative underscores the Transport Department’s commitment to fostering a culture of safe and responsible driving through regular health awareness and check-up programs.
