Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, conducted a public outreach camp at Latti as part of the weekly Block Diwas initiative. The event witnessed active participation from a large number of locals and officials from various line departments, creating a platform for addressing pressing community issues.

During the interactive session, residents and former PRI members raised several key demands aimed at improving infrastructure and services in the area. Among the prominent issues highlighted were:

  • Forest Clearance for Road Construction: Urgent clearance for the road project connecting Sira to Shivgali to improve connectivity.
  • Establishment of a Sports Stadium: A dedicated sports facility to encourage and promote sports activities among local youth.
  • Educational Facilities: Establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya to enhance educational opportunities for children.
  • Transport Services: Introduction of a bus service on the Ramnagar-Latti route for better transportation.
  • Healthcare Upgrades: Provision of an ultrasound machine and the upgradation of PHC Latti to a Community Health Centre. Residents also emphasized the need for appointing a veterinary doctor in Latti and Dudu.
  • Water Supply and Infrastructure: Measures to augment water supply, construction of a Panchayat Ghar, and setting up a health sub-centre at Latti B.
  • Connectivity Enhancements: Installation of a mobile tower at Dudu to address poor network connectivity.
  • Agricultural Support: Establishment of a potato farming facility to support local farmers and boost agricultural productivity.

Responding to the concerns, Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai assured the locals that their issues would be taken up on priority. She directed the officials from relevant departments to prepare action plans for resolving the highlighted problems and submit proposals for necessary approvals.

“Public participation is crucial in identifying developmental needs and ensuring effective governance. The administration remains committed to addressing the grievances of the people and improving the overall quality of life in the region,” the Deputy Commissioner stated.

The Block Diwas initiative continues to serve as a vital mechanism for bridging the gap between the administration and the public, fostering trust, and ensuring timely resolution of grassroots-level concerns.
